Our Future Policy Award is the first award that celebrates policies rather than people on an international level. The 2014 Future Policy Award was dedicated to policies that address one of the most pervasive human rights abuses that humanity is facing: violence against women and girls.

Announcement of the winners

The winning laws and policies were announced by the World Future Council on October 14, 2014, in partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The award ceremony was held at the Inter-Parliamentary Union's 131st Assembly in Geneva, a gathering of 1200 delegates from 170 Parliaments around the world. Follow-up events

Following our successful Award Ceremony, we continue our international work to end violence against women and girls.

On 18 November, at the 16th Women Against Violence Europe Conference, Senior Project Manager Karin Heisecke joined a panel of distinguished international experts for the discussion "Violence against women – What should be achieved in 20 years time and how do we get there?"

Another major highlight took place at the UN headquarters in New York on November 25. WFC Director Alexandra Wandel chaired the panel disccussion "Violence against Women: Best Laws and Policies - Learning from the winners of the 2014 Future Policy Award”.
